Canadian Yellow Split Pea Soup with Ham
A hearty and traditional Canadian soup made with yellow split peas and ham.

Main Ingredients
- 2 cups yellow split peas rinsed and drained
- 1 cup diced ham
- 1 large onion chopped
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 2 stalks celery chopped
- 8 cups chicken broth
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
1. In a large pot, sauté the onion, garlic, carrots, and celery until softened.
2. Add the ham, yellow split peas, chicken broth, thyme, black pepper, and bay leaves.
3. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for about 2 hours, or until peas are tender.
4. Remove bay leaves and serve hot.
