Ingredients 

Filling

  • 1 lb Beef skirt steak diced
  • 2 cups Potatoes diced
  • 1 cup Onion chopped
  • 1 cup Rutabaga diced
  • to taste Salt and pepper

Pastry

  • 4 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 cup Butter cold, diced
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 cup Water cold

Instructions 

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine beef, potatoes, onion, rutabaga, salt, and pepper.
  3. In another bowl, mix flour and salt. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add water gradually, mixing until dough forms.
  4. Divide dough into 4 pieces. Roll each piece into a circle. Place filling in the center of each circle. Fold dough over filling and crimp edges to seal.
  5. Place pasties on a baking sheet. Bake for 50 minutes or until golden brown.
