  • 4 cups thinly sliced potatoes
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon pepper
  • 1 cup shredded cheese

Instructions 

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in flour, salt, and pepper until smooth. Gradually add milk, stirring constantly until thickened.
  3. In a greased baking dish, layer half of the potatoes, then pour half of the sauce over them. Repeat layers.
  4. Sprinkle shredded cheese on top.
  5. Bake covered for 45 minutes, then uncover and bake for an additional 15 minutes until potatoes are tender and cheese is golden brown.
