Split Pea Soup Recipe

Main Ingredients
- 1 lb dried split peas
- 1 ham hock
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 carrots, chopped
- 2 stalks celery, chopped
- 8 cups chicken broth
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 teaspoon salt to taste
- 0.5 teaspoon black pepper to taste
Rinse the split peas under cold water.
In a large pot, combine all ingredients.
Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 90 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Remove ham hock, shred meat, and return meat to the pot.
Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve hot.
