Who We Are
This place you’re visiting, OriginalSin.com.sg, is run by people who care about food and your trust. We're a group based in Singapore, and we love building a space where recipes are real, exciting, and fully yours to try. Privacy matters to us because it matters to you.
What This Page Is
This isn’t a wall of lawyer-speak. It’s a straight-up breakdown of what we collect, why we do it, and how your information is handled here. You’ve got a right to know, and we’re here to give you the full picture without the fog.
Information We Collect
We don’t grab everything just because we can. When you use our site, this stuff might get picked up:
- Email Address: When you subscribe to updates or send us questions.
- Name (if you give it): This happens if you use a form or leave a comment.
- Browser Type & IP Address: This helps us see how folks find us and fix any weird bugs.
- Pages Visited & Time Spent: We use analytics to check what content gets love, what doesn’t.
- Cookies: Tiny files your browser keeps to remember you came by.
That’s it. We don’t track your fridge contents or read your shopping lists.
Why We Collect It
The goal’s simple: make your time here smoother and more useful. Here's how we use what you share or what your browser passes along:
- To send updates (if you ask us to).
- To answer your messages.
- To see what recipes are popular.
- To make pages load faster.
- To fix stuff that breaks.
- To stop spam and fake accounts.
We don’t use your data to sell you gadgets or email you nonsense.
Cookies (The Non-Edible Kind)
Cookies help us remember if you’ve been here before. They also keep things fast and secure. We use three types:
- Basic Cookies: Keep the site working right.
- Performance Cookies: Show us which recipes folks are clicking.
- Preference Cookies: Save your settings, like dark mode or region.
You can always say no to cookies. Check your browser settings if you’d like to stop them completely. But the site might get clunky without them.
Third-Party Tools
Some features here work with help from other places. When that happens, those folks might collect basic data too. Examples include:
- Analytics Tools: Track general behavior so we can improve.
- Email Tools: Send you updates when you’ve signed up.
- Embedded Content: A YouTube video or Instagram post might come with its own data settings.
We don’t let anyone advertise or follow you around after you leave.
Where Data Goes
We don’t pass your info to random marketers or shady mailing lists. Some stuff might go to trusted services that help us run things, like our hosting company or analytics provider, but those folks are bound by rules, too.
Everything stored or passed along follows standard practices. If we store your data, it stays locked down with security protocols. We don’t keep it longer than necessary.
Your Rights
You get to control your data. Always. Here's what you can do:
- Request a Copy: Ask what data we have on you.
- Correct Errors: Spot something wrong? Let us fix it.
- Delete Info: Want your data gone? We’ll handle that fast.
- Withdraw Consent: If you gave us permission before, you can take it back.
Reach out through our contact page to do any of these. Simple as that.
Email Stuff
If you give us your email, we treat it like a real-world address, private and not for sharing. We’ll only use it to:
- Send recipes if you ask for them.
- Respond to messages you send us.
- Update you on site stuff you’ve signed up for.
There’s always a clear unsubscribe link. One click and you're off the list. We won't guilt trip you.
Kids Are Welcome, But…
Minor Policy
OriginalSin.com.sg is made for general audiences, but we don’t knowingly collect personal info from anyone under 18. If you're a parent or guardian and you find out a minor shared data, contact us and we’ll wipe it right away.
We recommend young users browse the site with someone older. Cooking's better with company anyway.
Data Storage Time
We don’t cling to information longer than we need. If you unsubscribe or delete your account, your info gets deleted from our systems shortly after. Some backup systems may take a few extra days to clear fully, but nothing gets held longer than required.
Security Measures
We don’t mess around with data safety. Here’s what we do:
- Use encrypted connections (HTTPS).
- Limit access to stored info.
- Monitor for bugs or breaches.
- Keep software updated.
Still, no online place is bulletproof. If something ever goes sideways, we’ll let you know fast and tell you what’s next.
Selling or Merging?
We’re not in the flipping business, but if OriginalSin.com.sg ever gets sold or merges with another project, user info may transfer too. That said, whoever picks it up must follow this same privacy agreement or make one that’s just as clear.
California Privacy Rights
For California Residents Only
California law lets folks who live there ask what personal info companies hold on them, and how it’s used. Here's what California residents can do:
- Request a list of what personal data we’ve collected in the past 12 months.
- Ask for the purpose behind collecting it.
- Request deletion of all personal data we’ve gathered.
- Find out if data is shared with third parties (we don’t share data for ad sales).
- Say no to any sale of personal info (again, not something we do).
To use any of these rights, contact us through our site. You won’t get charged or treated differently for using your rights.
International Users
Our servers are mostly in Singapore, but we know visitors come from everywhere. If you're browsing from outside Singapore, you agree that your info might be sent to or stored in Singapore where our tools run. Your country’s rules might differ, but we still treat your data with care.
Changes to This Policy
Sometimes laws change, or tech updates force us to adjust how we do privacy. When that happens, we’ll update this page and we recommend giving this page a peek once in a while if you’re curious.
We built this site to celebrate recipes, not to spy on anyone. Our goal is a chill, trustworthy space where users come for the food and stay because they feel safe. Thanks for being part of our little online kitchen.
